How do I store the trees until I am ready to plant?

With coolers on-site, we will store your plants until you are ready to plant.  When you place your order, we will ask you when you will want to pick up your trees (approximate date), and we will harvest your order as close to that date as possible and store in our coolers until you are ready.  This will keep your plants as fresh as possible.

How do I care for my seedlings after I have picked
them up?

Follow these handling instructions for successful results:

Remember your seedlings are alive, and must be carefully handled and properly taken care of until planting
●Plant seedlings as soon as possible, and do not store out of cold storage any longer than possible
●Seedlings must be kept moist and cool (35-45 degrees outside of cooler storage)
●Store seedlings in a cool place, taking care not to freeze
●Protect seedlings from sunlight and wind
●Handle bags gently and take precautions to minimize bouncing and sliding around in a vehicle

How do I know what size tree to purchase, and from
what seed zone?

Each situation is different, and we are eager to help! Give us a call and we will assist you in making the most appropriate, yet cost effective, decision for your application.

What do I need to know for successful planting?

The following points will help to give you the best results possible:

●Before or after planting, remove or control competing vegetation (grass, brush, weeds, etc.) from a 3 foot radius around the seedling
●Plant on a cool, cloudy, or rainy day...avoid planting on extremely hot days
●Place seedlings in a planting bag, so roots are well protected from drying out - NEVER let roots dry out
●If you have no planting bag, use the seedling packaging bag, always closing the bag after taking out each seedling to protect the trees still in the bag
●NEVER lay out the seedlings on the ground where they will be planted- pull the seedling out of the bag after the hole is prepared.
●If the roots appear to by drying out, dip them in water before planting- NEVER soak seedlings in water, as the trees need to be able to breathe
●Do not prune roots before planting, we have already done that for you at the nursery
●Use a planting tool best suited for the seedling and site-shovel planting for large-rooted seedlings and hole planting
 for small-rooted seedlings
●Make sure the roots fall straight down in the planting hole - do not allow "J" rooting or compaction on the roots
●Make sure the roots are covered with loose soil, gently packing soil around the roots, making sure there are no air pockets in the hole
●Keep the root collar level with or slightly below the packed soil surface, but no deeper than the lowest branch
